If you are a vinyl record lover you are in luck, because vinyl is back and in a big way. Music lovers and collectors have the retro trends on their side, so in today’s article we are going to teach all those who are not yet experts in vinyl or too young to know how to take care of them, the tricks you should put into practice to keep your old or new vinyl records in perfect condition.
1. Keep them in cool and dry places.
Something similar to what happens with food. Vinyl records need to be kept away from sources of heat and humidity, so that their material does not spoil.
2. Best upright
Never store them in a column, one on top of the other, as friction could damage them. Try to store them vertically, side by side, as we usually do with books.
Vinyl records are undoubtedly the most noble audio format, resistant to the passage of time and above all, with proper care, they will always offer us their best sound, and our best moment when listening to them.
3. Always keep them in sleeves
Do not leave vinyl records loose because dust is one of the most frequent causes for which records get scratched and stop sounding good.
4. Take them with clean hands and by the end
Don’t leave your sweat and/or the dirt of your hands impregnated in your vinyl records and even less pick them up with your nails. And if the record you play is not yours: Even more reason! The best thing to do is to touch it only as much as necessary: from the sleeve to the turntable and from the turntable to the sleeve.

5. Never bend them or hit them.
It’s pure logic… you could break them.
6. Clean them gently
Use a special soft cloth (ask your record store and they will be able to tell you more about it) dry or with little water, following the direction of the vinyl record grooves (in circles). Do not use any cloth that can scratch them or create static electricity and you don’t need to use chemical products either, as you could damage the material.
